Al-Walid ibn Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan ibn Al-Hakam ibn al-'Ass, or simply Al-Walid I, was the first Arab Ruler to rule territories spanning from Southern France to borders of China, His expansionist policies saw the Arab Empire expand into Europe, Central Asia and the Indian Subcontinent.
his administration was well known for it's abundance of ruthless governors who were able to crush opposition all around the Empire, with Hajjaj ibn Yusuf in the East, Qurra ibn Shurayk in Egypt and Abdullah ibn Nusayr in the Maghreb.
The Building in the background is an ancient Aramean house of worship, which was converted to the Temple of Jupiter by the Ancient Greeks, then to a Church by the Romans, and finally to a Mosque by the Umayyads.
Al-Walid died a father of 19 sons and an unknown number of daughters.
